
President Bola Tinubu and late Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona,
President Bola Tinubu has expressed gratitude to the late Awujale of Ijebu, Oba Sikiru Adetona, for blessing him before the presidential election.
President Tinubu believed the monarch’s blessing contributed to his success in the polls.
“I came to him and he blessed me, saying you will win that election and you will win another one” he said
Speaking at the eight-day fidau prayer for the late monarch in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, Tinubu described Adetona as a revered traditional ruler who brought dignity and pride to Ijebu land and the Yoruba nation.
Tinubu recalled his visit to the Awujale before the election, saying the monarch’s support and blessing meant a lot to him.
He also praised Adetona’s leadership and contributions to the development of Ijebu land.
“Today marks a very great day in the history of Nigeria and particular history of the Yorub. race”, he said
Tinubu urged Nigerians to uphold Adetona’s legacy by promoting unity, peace, and national cohesion.
He praised the monarch’s leadership, saying it brought prestige to Ijebu land and the Yoruba nation.
Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State paid tribute to the late monarch, saying:
“Kabiyesi upheld the dignity of Ijebu culture and upheld the dignity of the Yoruba race; his reign brought prestige to our land”, he said.
Tinubu was joined at the fidau prayers by other dignitaries, including governors and ministers.
