Trinity Sunday

Rev. Fr. Christian Oji, The Parish Priest of the Holy Family Catholic Church, Ologo, Uwani, Enugu South Local Government Area, has called for unity and love among Nigerians.

Rev. Oji, who made the call on Sunday in Enugu during his homily to mark 2021 Trinity Sunday in the parish said that it was in order to end crime and insecurity in the country.

News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Trinity is a fundamental dogma in Chritianity chich centres on the existence of three persons in one God.

Christians remember and honour the belief in an eternal God, consisting of God the Father, Gob the Son and God the Holy Spirit and it is celebrated a week after Pentecost, the descent of the Holy Spirit on the apostles.

Rev. Orji said the manner in which God the father, son and spirit work is worthy of emulation by all Nigerians and the entire humanity.

According to him, they work in love, unity, cooperation and there is no division among them.

“This is what is expected among citizens of this country where various ethnic groups will work together with one another without nepotism”.

“What we are seeing in government, our homes, churches and places of work is what I term artificial division where people see others as not their brothers or sisters”.

“It is not the teaching of God. He wants us to love and care for one another,” Oji said.

The clergyman urged Nigerians to respect one another to enable them to build a healthy nation noting that Trinity succeeds because of the mutual understanding and respect which exist among them.

“Even in our communities, we still regard some people as outcast, others free born and it is an insult before God because He created all human equal”.

“We must stop this attitude if we want to be in good relationship with God,” he said. (NAN)
