
Explosive materials intercepted from the suspects in Enugu
Troops of Operation EASTERN SANITY II have recorded another operational success against criminal elements in the South East following a raid operation conducted in Oji River Local Government Area of Enugu State.
The Army disclosed this in a post on Saturday via its verified X handle: @HQNigerianArmy
The Army said its troops deployed at Oji River, acting on credible intelligence, in conjunction with Keystone personnel from Oji River LGA, conducted a raid operation at about 0430 hours on 23 May 2026 on a house suspected to be harbouring cultists and other criminal elements at Achi Town in Oji River LGA.
It said during the operation, troops recovered 8 motorcycles and 2 buckets of locally made gun powder suspected to be used for criminal activities.
Additionally, the army said its troops apprehended 3 suspects namely Mr Ozor Benjamin (85 years) from Isikwe Achi, Mrs Miracle Eze (26 years) and Mrs Ogechukwu Okorie (29 years), both from Umuoka Achi in Oji River LGA, Enugu State.
It added that the arrested suspects and recovered items have since been handed over to Keystone Oji River for further investigation and necessary action.
“The successful operation highlights the commitment of Operation EASTERN SANITY II troops and other security agencies to sustaining offensive operations against criminal elements threatening peace and security in the South East region.
“Troops remain resolute in denying criminal elements freedom of action while encouraging members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies”, it said.
