Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have successfully neutralized 24 Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists in a series of coordinated ambushes and clearance operations in Borno and Adamawa states.
According to the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, Headquarters Theatre Command Operation Hadin Kai, Captain Reuben Kovangiya, said the operations were conducted between July 4 and July 9, in collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force component, Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), and local hunters.
“The neutralisation of 24 terrorists underscores the determination and concerted efforts of OPHK to place insurgents on the back foot and create a secure environment for socio-economic recovery in the North East,” Kovangiya said.
The operations resulted in the recovery of several items, including motorcycles, spare parts, pesticides, food supplies, salt, detergents, and ammunition.
The troops also dismantled terrorist camps and destroyed life-support structures in the affected areas.
*Key Highlights of the Operations*
-July 4: Troops ambushed terrorists at Platari, killing three, and recovered motorcycles and spare parts.
July 5: Troops intercepted insurgents attempting to access the Madarari IDP camp, killing one terrorist and recovering ammunition.
-July 6: Troops carried out a night ambush at suspected crossing points, killing one terrorist.
-July 7: Troops ambushed terrorist logistics suppliers, neutralizing two insurgents and recovering bicycles and sundry items.
-July 8: Troops conducted clearance operations at Bula Marwa, killing one terrorist and destroying life-support structures.
July 9: Troops cleared JAS and ISWAP enclaves at Tangalanga and Bula Marwa, killing three insurgents and recovering AK-47 rifles, magazines, and ammunition.
The success of the operations highlights the resilience and synergy between the troops, air components, and local support forces in the fight against terrorism.
The OPHK troops remain committed to sustaining pressure on terrorist enclaves and restoring normalcy in the region. The operations are part of ongoing efforts to secure the North East and create a safe environment for socio-economic recovery.
