University of Jos (UNIJOS) has announced that all postponed first semester examinations will resume on Monday, April 13, 2026, following a temporary disruption caused by security concerns.
The decision was contained in a statement issued by the university management on Friday, April 3, 2026, after a review of the security situation that affected students during the week.
The statement, signed by the Deputy Registrar, Information and Public Relations, Emmanuel Madugu, noted that examinations earlier scheduled for Wednesday, April 1, and Thursday, April 2, 2026, had been postponed.
Management explained that the postponement became necessary due to heightened tensions and threats to students’ safety, which led to the approval of an extended Easter break to enable students travel home.
The university said the rescheduled examinations will commence with those earlier slated for March 30, 2026, while students were advised to contact their faculty timetable officers for clarification.
“All examinations are to continue from Monday, April 13, 2026, beginning with the ones that were postponed from March 30, 2026. For further clarification on this, students are advised to contact the Faculty Examinations Time Table officer,” the statement read.
The institution assured students who remained on campus that adequate security measures had been put in place to guarantee their safety.
“Students who are on campus are assured of their safety, as security has been beefed up. They are advised to maintain vigilance, exercise extra caution in their movements and report immediately any sign or shadow of breach of the public peace to the University Security Division”.
The statement further disclosed that normal academic and administrative activities would resume across the university community from Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
Management reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with relevant security agencies to ensure that no breach of peace is tolerated, adding that further updates would be communicated to students and staff as necessary.
