
Late retired Maj. Gen. Rabe Abubakar
Katsina state government has announced the death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, who had been in bandits’ captivity for several weeks.
The Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Nasiru Mu’azu, confirmed the development in a statement issued to newsmen on Saturday in Katsina.
The statement said the retired General died from complications arising from diabetes and hypertension.
It described his abduction and subsequent death as not only a loss to his family and Katsina state, but also a monumental loss to the nation.
The statement conveyed Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s deepest condolences to the family of the late General and Nigerians at large.
Governor Radda described the incident as a dark moment and a reminder of the urgent need for a collective and intensified effort against criminal elements threatening the peace and security of communities.
The governor reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to working closely with the Federal Government and security agencies to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.
The statement also assured residents of the state’s unwavering resolve to eradicate banditry and guarantee the safety of lives and property across Katsina State.
