In a dramatic escalation of tensions in the Middle East, the United States (US) has launched airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, targeting Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.
President Donald Trump announced the military operation, describing it as a “spectacular military success”.
“A short time ago, the US military carried out massive precision strikes on the three key nuclear facilities in the Iranian regime Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan,” Trump said in a late-night address from the White House.
“Our objective was the destruction of Iran’s nuclear enrichment capacity and a stop to the nuclear threat posed by the world’s number one state sponsor of terror.”
The US military used advanced bunker-buster bombs, known as GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrators, to target the heavily fortified Fordow facility.
According to reports, six B-2 bombers dropped 12 bunker-buster bombs on Fordow, while Navy submarines fired 30 Tomahawk cruise missiles at Natanz and Isfahan.
Trump warned Iran of severe consequences if it chooses to retaliate, saying, “There will be either peace or there will be tragedy for Iran, far greater than we have witnessed over the last eight days.”
He also boasted about the superiority of the US military, stating, “There’s no military in the world that could have done what we did tonight, not even close.
In the aftermath of the strikes, Trump took to social media to praise the operation, writing, “We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. All planes are now outside of Iran air space.
“A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. Congratulations to our great American Warriors.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hailed Trump’s decision to target Iran’s nuclear facilities, saying it will “change history”.
“Congratulations President Trump, your bold decision to target Iran’s nuclear facilities with the awesome and righteous might of the United States will change history,” Netanyahu posted.
