The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Eminent Stakeholders and Concerned Leaders have reaffirmed Sen. Sam Anyawu as the duly elected and substantive National Secretary of the party.
The reaffirmation was made in a communique signed in Abuja, following a closed-door meeting to address the party’s lingering crisis.
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Nyesom Wike, who read the communique, said the stakeholders’ resolution was in line with the Supreme Court’s judgment.
“We unequivocally reaffirm Sen. Sam Anyanwu as the duly elected and substantive National Secretary of our great party,” Wike declared.
*Respect for Party Constitution*
Wike emphasized the need for the party to respect its constitution and the Supreme Court’s judgment.
He stated that only Anyawu can issue notices of meetings, and any notices not issued by him are null and void.
The stakeholders called on party members to uphold the rule of law and respect constitutional mandate.
They also urged members to resist destabilization efforts and support the National Reconciliation Committee headed by Sen. Bukola Saraki.
*Zoning of Presidential Ticket*
The stakeholders resolved that the party’s presidential candidate for the 2027 elections should be zoned to the South, citing principles of fairness, inclusion, and federal character.
Former governors, including Ifeanyi Uguanyi, Samuel Ortom, and Okezie Ikpeazu, were among the stakeholders who attended the meeting.
The stakeholders reiterated their commitment to the party and urged members to work towards its stability and growth.
