A group known as Kwararafa Women Association(KWA), Nasarawa State Chapter, has called on the assembly members to re-elect the current speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly (NSHA), Rt. Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, as the speaker of the soon to be inaugurated 7th assembly.
The group made the call during a courtesy call on the speaker at the assembly complex along Shendam road in Lafia, the state capital, Tuesday.
Hajiya Kaltume Suleiman Ogah, chairperson of the group, said the visit was to congratulate the Speaker and other members, who won their elections and to sympathize with those members that lost.

“We are here to congratulate you the Rt. Hon Speaker, as your victory did not come to us as a surprise because of your achievements and track records. Your leadership style has promoted peace and speedy development across the state”, she said.
Mrs Ogah, who assured the Speaker of effective partnership and support at all times also said “It is our wish that you return as the Speaker of the 7th Assembly in the state”.
The women used the brief occasion to present an “Award of Excellence” to the Speaker, for his outstanding achievements and track records as a man of peace and unity.

The speaker, while responding, appreciated the people of the State for returning Gov. Abdullahi Sule, for second term during the just concluded general elections.
He said that the people of the State deserved commendation for voting Gov. Sule, in the last election to enable him build on the solid foundation he has put in place.
“His Excellency, Gov Abdullahi Sule deserves his victory at the election. You can not beat people and stop them from crying, it is always what it is”
“Today, I feel honoured for your visit to share with us the joy of our electoral victories and for sympathizing with some of our members that lost their elections”
“We shall consider you in all of our activities to give you sense of belonging and to enable you contribute positively to the development of the State, ” he said.
The Speaker, who assured them of effective partnership to take the State to the next level of development, dedicated the award to the members of the House for giving him all the necessary support to succeed.
“The Award is not only for me but for all Honourable Members for their support, this is because the successes and what I have achieved was as a result of Honourable Members’ support” he said.
