Youths under the aegis of the Arewa Youth Assembly and Taraba People’s Assembly have commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the establishment of the 10 Nigerian Army Division in Taraba State.
The youths, who turned out in large numbers for a solidarity rally in Jalingo, said the new military formation would strengthen security operations and help address persistent security challenges in Taraba and other parts of the North-East.
Speaking to journalists during the procession, spokesperson of the group, Aliyu Mohammad Sani, described the establishment of the division as a major strategic step capable of improving the protection of communities across the region.
Sani said the decision reflected the Federal Government’s recognition of the security concerns confronting residents and its determination to provide a stronger response.
He said: “This division is a fortress for Taraba and a shield for the entire North East. For too long, our communities cried out for a force that understood our landscape, our fears, and our hopes, and Mr. President answered that cry.
“Additionally, the increase in the salaries of our gallant soldiers is a gigantic morale booster. It tells every man and woman on the front line that their sacrifice is seen and their blood is honoured.
“I must also commend the Chief of Defence Staff and the Chief of Army Staff, under whose watch these historic milestones are being achieved. Your extraordinary commitment to ending insecurity has given this nation renewed confidence.”
Also speaking, spokesperson of the Taraba People’s Movement, Comrade Umar Sani Bello, said the rally was organised to express the appreciation of residents to the Federal Government for the decision.
Bello said the creation of the Army division had renewed optimism among residents about the prospects of lasting peace and improved security in the state and the wider region.
He assured that the people of Taraba would continue to cooperate with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to strengthen security operations and protect communities.
The youths said they expected the new military formation to enhance the Army’s capacity to respond quickly to security threats while deepening collaboration between security personnel and local communities.
