
Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum

The Borno State Government has announced the passing of Hajja Zainab Abba Bashir, the mother of former Senator Babakaka Bashir Garbai, who represented Borno Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly from 2015 to 2019.
Governor Zulum has extended his condolences to the family of the former Senator and state commissioner, as well as relations, urging them to bear the irreparable loss with fortitude.
He prayed for the repose of Hajja Zainaba’s gentle soul and wished her eternal rest in Jannatul Firdausi.
A statement issued by the SSA New Media to Governor Zulum and made available to newsmen on Tuesday in Maiduguri announced that the funeral prayer has been scheduled for 5:00 p.m. today, September 3, 2024, at the Shehu of Borno’s palace.
In a related development, Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima is expected to lead a presidential delegation to attend the funeral prayer and burial, which will be conducted according to Muslim rites, immediately upon his arrival in Maiduguri this evening.
The late Hajja Zainaba was the mother of Senator Bashir Garbai, who is a younger brother to the Shehu of Borno, His Eminence, Alhaji Abubakar Garbai Ibn Umar El Kanemi, and a close associate and schoolmate of Vice President Shettima. She was also the Director of the Nigerian Export-Import Promotion Council.”
