Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum has flagged off the reopening of the Borno State NYSC Orientation Camp with the swearing in of newly posted corp members to the state at the temporary NYSC Orientation Camp located at the Mustapha Umar El Kanemi Arabic Teachers College Maiduguri.NYsc members
The governor in his address on Tuesday thanked Almighty Allah for witnessing this remarkable day of reopening of NYSC Orientation Camp in Borno state after 13 years of closure of the camp due to insecurity.
He said this is a clear indication that peace has returned to the state while acknowledging the bold step taken by the corp members posted to Borno state to.accept and come down to the state for their mandatory youths service.
“We welcome you all and Borno is a place for hospitality and the state has been enjoying peace,. Borno state government will continue to pay all corp members their state allowances without any hindrance. We wish you successful service year in Borno state,” Zulum added.
Borno Chief Judge, Justice Zanna Shettima administered the oath of allegiance to the corps members.
The NYSC State Coordinator , Mohammed Adamu Jiya in his remarks thanked the executive Governor of Borno State and all stakeholders for their efforts in putting back the orientation camp into action.
He charged the prospective corp members to be diligent in their national service and primary assignment .
” I welcome you all to the swearing in Ceremony of 2023 Batch B stream I Corps Members deployed to Borno State. Your Excellency Sir, I give thanks to the Almighty Allah for blessing you with tremendous physical strength, and capacity which empowers you in your strive to uplift the living standard of the good people of Borno State.
“On behalf of the NYSC management, staff and corps members, I want to sincerely thank you for your role in facilitating the return of orientation course to Borno state and for providing us with all the necessary facilities that made this day a reality.
“I am pleased to inform you, that a total of.1,125 Prospective Corps Members were registered comprising 629 males and .496 females respectively. Of this number, no one has reported any case of security threat to life and property in the course of their respective journeys to Borno States.
“May I also inform His Excellency of the tremendous support of the Theatre Commander, North East, Operation Hadin Kai Maj Gen GU Chibuisi, the GOC, 7 Division, Maimalari Military Cantonment, Maj. Gen. P.P Malla and the Garrison Commander, Brig Gen TM Opurun.
“In addition, our gratitude goes to the Director, Department of State Services, the Commissioner of Police and the Zonal and State Commandants of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in ensuring that the camp and its environs are safe and secure.
“Let me also register our appreciation to the management of NYSC under the leadership of the Director General, Brig Gen YD Ahmed DSS fdc MTRCN MNARC for firmly standing with us throughout the period of our dislodgement, as well as the restoration of NSC Orientation Course to Borno State.
“To the Royal Father, the Shehu of Born HRH Alhaji Dr Abubakar In Garbai El Kanemi CFR, I want to say thank for exacting your good will in the struggle that brought about the return of NSC Orientation Courses to Borno State.
“Your Excellency Sir, as we harness the potentials of these vibrant youth in the areas education, healthcare delivery, environment, agriculture for the overall socio-economic development of the state, I want to make a passionate appeal for the speedy renovation of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Maiduguri”, Mr. Jiya said.
