1,486 trainees pass out of Nigerian Navy Basic Training School Onne

A total of 1,486 trainees  comprising 1,240 male and 246 females, have successfully passed out of the Nigerian Navy Basic Training School Batch35  after six months of rigorous naval training which included seamanship, boat handling, small arms, rifle drills, endurance training and unarmed combat.

 

The Passing Out Parade (POP), held at the training school located in Onne, Rivers State, at the weekend, had in attendance, the Minister of State for Defence, Dr Bello Muhammed Matawalle, who was the Reviewing Officer, and  the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla, among other dignitaries.

The event was a colorful ceremony signaling the commencement of a naval career for these young male and female Nigerians who have sworn an oath of allegiance to their nation, according to the Director Naval Information, Commodore Aiwuyor Adams-Aliu.

 

After the March past in slow and quick time, there was a silent drill display by the trainees, award presentation by the Reviewing Officer and presentation of souvenirs to the dignitaries.

 

Other dignitaries who graced the occasion were the representatives of the Governors of Rivers and Akwa Ibom States; the Chairman House Committee on Defence,  and representatives of the other Service Chiefs.

Also in attendance were the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Defence, and Principal Staff Officers from Defence Headquarters and Naval Headquarters.
