Abducted wife, maid of ex-CoS to Ortom regain freedom after paying ransom

Mrs Abigail Kashimana Orbunde, the wife of the former Chief of Staff (Terwase Orbunde), to former Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom and her maid, Ms. Patience Ogute, who were abducted by gunmen in Makurdi last Friday evening have regained their freedom.

Orbunde’s wife and maid, regained their freedom Tuesday afternoon, April 16, 2024, after an undisclosed amount was paid as ransom to their abductors who had demanded N100 million

The victims, who spent four harrowing days in captivity before their release have reunited with some of their family members and taken to hospital for immediate medical attention.

It could be recalled that the gunmen on Friday, April 12, 2024, attacked Ortom’ s former CoS, Orbunde, and abducted his wife and maid.

The attack took place along Mobile Barracks-Welfare Quarters Road in Makurdi, the state capital at about 6 pm, leaving Orbunde with a gunshot injury on his right arm while the attackers whisked away his wife and maid.

In her comment, Mrs. Orbunde, who expressed gratitude to God for what she described as their deliverance, informed that they walked long distances in the bush without food and water.

Orbunde, who is receiving treatment in hospital for gunshot wounds, appreciated God and all those who stood with the family through prayers and financial contributions that have secured the release.
