Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun on Thursday in Abeokuta donated 25 patrol vehicles and drones to the Police Command in the state.

Governor Abiodun made the donation on behalf of the state government while receiving the Inspector-General of Police (IG), Kayode Egbetokun, in his office.

He noted that the vehicles and ultra-modern drone facilities would assist in combating crime in the state.

The governor explained that the gesture was in line with Federal Government’s zero tolerance for insecurity.

He then promised to continue to support security agencies to win the war against crime in Nigeria.

“The innovative and transformational leadership style of Egbetokun is encouraging us, and I promise to continue to support the Police in Nigeria to enhance community policing, so as to win the war against insecurity in Nigeria,” Abiodun said.

Earlier, Egbetokun who was accompanied by an Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Olatoye Durosimi, and the Commissioner of Police in Ogun, Abiodun Alamutu, appreciated Abiodun for the gesture.

He acknowledged that Ogun remained one of the most peaceful states in the country, promising that the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) would establish more formations there to curtail possible security breaches.

“I am here to thank you specially for the support that you have been giving to the Police Command in Ogun.

“I am also here to appreciate you specially for the wonderful job that you are doing in Ogun. I noticed that our state has been turned around. I flew over the major towns and I could see massive developments going on.

“The least we can do is to support you. We have to pay attention to a continuous provision of security for Ogun.

“I can see the migration of people into Ogun increasing everyday because of the development and again, because of the peace in the state.

“All this development that you are undertaking has a burden and we recognise that. The Police leadership has decided to pay the necessary attention to Ogun .

“We are going to create more police stations to match the development that is going on in the state.

“We will establish more Area Commands, and bring additional mobile police squadrons into the state,” the IG said.

Egbetokun however sought for more support from the governor, saying that he should not get tired of supporting the Police.(NAN)
