AFCON: Nigerian fans urge Super Eagles to defeat Cote D’Ivoire

Nigerian football fans in Kano State have urged the Super Eagles and their crew, to step up their game and beat host Cote d’ Ivoire on Thursday African Cup of Nations (AFCON) match.

The fans made the call in a separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday in Kano.

They said that in spite of the draw with Equatorial Guinea, their performance was not satisfactory.

Zahradeen Saleh, the chairman Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kano chapter urged the Super Eagles to put behind their below-par performance in the first game and beat their hosts.

“I believe that they can still improve on their game. But the game is going to be very difficult against the hosts,” he said.

Ali Muhammad, a football enthusiast, said there was the need for the players to keep up the spirit in their second group tie against Cote d’ Ivoire.

He said that he is optimistic in the ability of the Super Eagles to win the match considering the caliber of players.

Ahmed Khalil, a footballer, said the players need to improve on their finishing to be able to make any meaningful impact in match.

Khalil urged the Super Eagles to take the match seriously and not to lose focus.

Abubakar Jibrin , a football coach, said that he is optimistic that Nigeria would carry the day. ‎

“I ‎am confident that in spite of the first match result, the Eagles will win convincingly,” he said.

Musbahu Shehu , a sports presenter, urged the team to beat the hosts to brighten their ‎chances of qualifying from the group.

‎”I want the boys to approach the match with all seriousness, and they must be committed to the game; I see Nigeria winning the game tomorrow,” Shehu said.‎(NAN).
