APC chieftain rehabilitates roads in Ogoja communities

By PATRICK ABANG, Calabar –

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Cross River State, Peter Ojie, has commenced the rehabilitation of roads in Adagom and Odajie communities in Ogoja Local Government Area of the State.

Speaking while flagging off the rehabilitation exercise, the APC chieftain, who is also the Senior Special Adviser on Political Affairs to Governor Ben Ayade, said the gesture was aimed at mitigating commuting challenges facing the people, especially during rainy seasons.

According to Dr. Ojie, “this project is in fulfilment of a personal commitment to the people of these communities to repair their roads and thus alleviate their suffering.

“Their plight was brought to my attention during the electioneering campaigns and I decided to tackle them with my personal funds instead of waiting for government”.

He expressed optimism that when completed, the rehabilitated roads will ease difficulties faced by farmers and traders in evacuating their goods and farm produce to the markets.

The rehabilitation work which commenced early this week will include the construction of a major drainage channel in Bansan community, Mbube to control perennial flooding in the area.
