Two injured as bandits attack President Buhari’s convoy in Katsina

A group of armed bandits have reportedly laid an ambush and attacked the convoy of President Muhammadu Buhari in Katsina State.

NATIONAL ACCORD gathered that the convoy of cars was carrying the Advance Team of security guards, protocol and media officers ahead of President Buhari’s trip to Daura for Sallah.

It was also gathered that the bandits opened fire on the convoy from an ambush positions but were repelled by the military, police and Department of State Service personnel accompanying the convoy.

Meanwhile, the presidential spokesman, Malam Garba Shehu has confirmed the incident in a statement issued to newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja.

Malam Shehu described the shooting incident near Dutsinma in Katsina State as sad and unwelcome.

He said: “the attackers opened fire on the convoy from ambush positions but were repelled by the military, police and Department of State Service personnel accompanying the convoy.

”Two persons in the convoy are receiving treatment for the minor injuries they suffered.

”All the other personnel, staff and vehicles made it safely to Daura,” he said.
