Benue 2027: PDP set to reclaim power from APC

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Benue State chapter has risen from an expanded caucus meeting with the readiness to reclaim power from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)

Speaking during the meeting, the immediate past Governor of the state, Samuel Ortom said PDP needed only unity of purpose to enable the party reclaim power from the APC.

Ortom, who is the leader of the PDP in the state sued for support for those in government but informed that they should not lose sight of the fact that they were going to take over in 2027 and appealed for forgiveness from one another for them to have a common front. “With the renewed commitment we will succeed”, Ortom stressed.

In his contribution, another former governor of the state, Senator Gabriel Suswam, who also emphasized the importance of unity in the party, also appealed for regular meetings to enable the party strategize for better performance, adding that they failed in the last election and they would not make the mistake again.

“We made mistakes and failed elections. We will not make such mistakes again.”

Senator Abba Moro in his comment, appreciated God and the support of the people for his emergence as the minority leader in the Senate saying Benue is a symbol of PDP adding however that APC was mismanaging and misusing power.

Senator Moro expressed the belief that the good old days were coming back, insisting that all the PDP members should remain united and cautioned against spreading romours which would take the party nowhere.

Other speakers at the expanded caucus meeting including former first female Speaker in Nigeria and Benue State House of Assembly, Margaret Icheen, gubernatorial candidate of the PDP and former Speaker of the House of Assembly Titus Uba among other speakers harped on unity in the party and expressed hope that with unity the party would remain strong to win her elections.
