Concerned Youths of Benue State from the three senatorial districts have warned against contemplating anything capable of distracting the Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo, (FUHSO).
In a press briefing in Otukpo, the group who expressed their unalloyed support for the Vice Chancellor of the first Federal University of Health Sciences in Nigeria, urged all the youths to support him and not to allow themselves to be used by a section of the people who do not have the interest of the people at heart.
The leader of the Youths, Comrade Daniel Edoache Atayi, who lauded the vision, astuteness, and developmental strides of the Vice Chancellor, enjoined well-meaning sons and daughters of Idomaland not to be distracted by the politically orchestrated campaign of calumny carefully crafted by a group of vested interests calculated to malign the hard earned reputation of Prof. Innocent Ujah, saying that Ujah is an asset to Nigeria as a whole.
The youths leader also warned that “We should not allow politics of animosity, greed and self centredness to rob them (Idoma) of these feats because no one cuts away its nostril for discharging flu or catarrh, neither should anyone cuts his anus for discharging faeces”, he admonished.”
While calling on well-meaning sons and daughters of Idoma nation to be wary of disgruntled elements whose only interest is to destroy the tremendous progress recorded so far, encouraged those willing to know the state of affairs of the University to come clean to the school as records and facts were available.
The group maintained that the allegations vis-a-vis the facts on ground, ‘’the Vice Chancellor neither derailed, digressed on the vision and mission, philosophy of FUHSO, and called on all and sundry to join hands with the Vice Chancellor to enable the university management record more achievements.
Atayi acknowledged the sacrifices of the erstwhile President of the Senate, Senator David Mark for his fore sightedness in the establishment of Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo and his ability to discover one of the best brains in the medical world – Prof. Innocent Ujah to stir the affairs of the first University of Health Sciences to a citadel of global reckoning.
He appealed to the aggrieved youths of Otukpo district who had protested to know how to channel their grievances, noting that FUHSO is an answered prayer for the people of Benue South Senatorial District, and all hands must be on deck to nurture it like a baby to a position of envy and reminded mischief makers that the Idoma Nation had waited for 48 years to have a new University and must not allow the vision of the founding fathers to hit the brick wall.
