Borno official inspects ongoing projects in Biu, Miringa, Gunda

Ongoing road construction

The Special Adviser to the Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum on Monitoring and Evaluation, Engr Ibrahim Idris Garba on Saturday inspected the ongoing construction of 2.9 kilometers road and drainage around College of Education, Waka Biu in Biu LGA of the state.

The project is one of those being approved by Governor Zulum during his four days LGC inspection and commissioning of developmental projects in Biu town, last week.

The adviser interacted with site engineers working at the site during his visit where the site engineers, assured him that since Zulum’s visit and directives for acceleration of work, they have remained steadfast despite setbacks caused by rainfall, which occasionally slow down their work.

Ongoing road construction

Engr Garba has already commenced work from the Monitoring, Evaluation and Special Projects Zonal office Biu for the purpose of inspecting projects sited in southern Borno, in line with the objectives for which the zonal office was recently completed and commissioned.

The zonal office is being staffed with technical and non technical officers that will be mandated to undertake spontaneous assessment of progresses of government projects, programmes, schools, hospitals, water supply areas and other essential public services, as part of a supervision mechanism.

While the Biu zonal office serves LGAs in southern Borno, similar to the zonal office Maiduguri which serves LGAs in Borno Central while that of Monguno serves LGAs in northern Borno.

Ongoing housing construction

The three offices are headed by Engr Ibrahim Idris Garba, in his capacity as Special Adviser to the Governor on Monitoring and Evaluation.

The adviser, apart from monitoring progress of work in Waka Biu, also inspected ongoing perimeter fencing and some renovation works at Miringa health centre.

He further inspected rehabilitation of the road destroyed by flood in Biu, ongoing construction of new vocational training complex in Biu and installation of some transformers within Biu town which were directed by Governor Zulum last week to be constructed, rehabilitated and assessed respectively.
