The member representing Etung and Obubra Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Mike Etaba, has empowered the people of his constituency with 150 Motor-Bikes, 31 Mini-buses, two Siena buses, sewing machines, fertilisers and mechanised farming equipment.
Hon. Etaba said on Monday that the gesture which was part of his economic empowerment program was initiated to appreciate the people for their support.
The lawmaker also commended Governor Ben Ayade for giving him the platform to serve the people better.
He also praised Ayade for using his wisdom to take Cross River State to the centre with the Ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) taking over the state for greater democratic dividends to Cross Riverians.
In his remarks, the State Chairman of the APC, Alphonsus Eba, congratulated Hon. Etaba for the capacity representation he has shown to his Constituents as this is the legacy of the APC administration in Cross River.
He advised the beneficiaries to efficiently utilize the items they have gotten from Hon. Mike Etaba’s economic empowement.
Also speaking, the Chairman of the event, Prince Ebuta Ayuk, called on elected political office holders to take a cue from the impressive work and performances of the member representing Etung/Obubra Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives., Rt. Hon Mike Etaba.
Prince Ayuk said that the essence of supporting people to various offices is to hold such offices in trust for the people as RT. Hon. Mike Etaba has over the years shown by his commitment to the welfare of the people of Etung and Obubra.
He maintained that Etaba has proven that he is truly a servant leader, who appreciates that it is through the good will of the people that he is opportune to represent them.
“It is unfortunately that some persons have transformed the office which they are supposed to hold in trust for the people rather for themselves and their families.
“We support people to go to various offices so they can hold such offices in trust for us and not for themselves and their families. RT. Hon. Etaba is one man that has proven to be exceptional. What has been demonstrated here today is a great testimony that Mike Etaba whom we all supported into the Lower Chambers of the National Assembly has gone there truly to hold the office in trust for all of us. “
Prince Ayuk, therefore, commended the lawmaker for the great empowerment programmes for the people of Etung and Obubra Federal Constituency.
Present at the event were Rt. Hon Mike Etaba and his wife, the state Chairman of APC and his Entourage, members of the APC in Obubra/Etung local Government Area, Mr. Peter Egba, Commissioner for Industries and a host of youths and women gathered to felicitate with the lawmaker.
