EFCC arrests Ex-Governor of Imo state, Senator Okorocha

Former governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha, was believed to have been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday evening.

Okorocha is the Senator currently representing Imo West Senatorial district at the 9th Nigerian Senate.

It was learnt that officials of the Commission laid siege to the former Governor’s private office at Nkwerre Street in Area 11, Garki District of Abuja and picked him up shortly after he returned from a trip.

EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwajuren, confirmed the arrest although he did not say what prompted the arrest or the possible charges against him .

Okorocha has been having a running battle with his successor, governor Hope Uzodimma, with some of the institutions named after (or believed to have be owned) by the former governor renamed.
