By OLA MUDOPE, Lagos –
No fewer than 250 shanties, 200 makeshift buildings and 40 sawmill machines have been destroyed by fire outbreak at Oko-Oba area of Lago State.
It was gathered that the incident occurred on Wednesday at about 11:40 AM.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has confirmed the incident to newsmen in Lagos.
The Zonal Coordinator (Southwest) of NEMA, Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, said the fire was put out by the combined efforts of the Federal Fire Service, Lagos State Fire Service and the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency.
Mr. Farinloye, however, said the cause of the fire outbreak is not know yet, as investigation has commenced to unravel the cause of the inferno.
Meanwhile, some occupants of the shanties were seen relocating what remained of their property out of the scene of the fire.
