The Wife of the President and Nigeria’s First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu and Wife of the Vice President,
Mrs Nana Shettima, and other prominent women have been listed in the “Nigeria Women Annual: 100 Leading Women.”

The publication is a biographical compendium on accomplished women leaders in Nigeria to be released on March 8, to mark the 2024 International Women’s Day (IWD).

Other notable female leaders listed are the acting Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings Plc, Bolaji Agbede, and the Minister of State for Police Affairs, Hon. Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim.

The Executive Director of Gender Perspectives, Tammie Kammonke and the CEO of Profiles and Biographies, Kammonke Abam, joint publishers of the annual compendium, made this known in a joint statement issued on Thursday in Abuja.

They said “in publishing this compendium every year, we envision that we will continue to contribute to gender equality and women empowerment advocacy efforts toward filling the yawning gender gap in the leadership of Nigeria.

“This year’s sterling list of Nigeria’s foremost women leaders is a mixed grill of tech experts, pastors, politicians, teachers, activists, development practitioners, and C-Suite corporate leaders.

“It is a gender-specific biographical compendium that responds to existing gender gaps in Nigeria’s biographical documentation and leadership.

“The current edition would be the most qualitative biographical profile on Nigeria’s most inspirational and influential women whose work would contribute to shaping Nigeria’s collective history in 2024.”

Now in its seventh year, the compendium is published annually to commemorate IWD on March 8.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that IWD is celebrated across the globe to raise awareness about issues that affect women and girls, as well as celebrate women who contributed to societal development and to humanity.

The theme of 2024 IWD is “Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress”, and will spotlight critical topics essential for fostering inclusive and equitable societies through the economic empowerment of women and girls.

NAN also reports that the compendium profiles outstanding women across different frontiers, including innovators, barrier-breakers, activists, top bureaucrats, captains of industry, and celebrities. (NAN)
