Fuel Subsidy: Borno agency issues transport allowance for staff

Borno State Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (BOSCHMA) has introduced transport allowance for its staff to cushion hardships beng faced by the staff following recent increase in price price which was as a result of the fuel subsidy removal by the federal government last month.

Executive Secretary of the agency, Dr. Saleh Abba-Kaza, disclosed this at a meeting with the staff of the agency on Tuesday.

He said,” Following the recent fuel subsidy removal, we have come to realise that most, if not all, our staff are struggling to survive the ripple effect”.

” It is a known fact that commercial motorists have increased transport fares by at least 300 per cent. But in spite of the financial difficulties, you didn’t relent in availing yourselves to work regularly and timely.

“On this note, the management of BOSCHMA has come up with a palliative for all staff by providing a monthly stipend to cushion the effect of the rise in transport fare.

” The lower or junior staff will receive N10,000 monthly in addition to your salary, while the middle cadre and senior staff will get a monthly increase of N15,000 and N20,000, respectively,” Kaza said.

He added that the agency has also established a centre within the premises of the agency to assist nursing mothers to enable the mothers attend to their babies , particularly, those staff that can not afford a nanny.

He also pledged to give high consideration to issues of training and retraining of staff of the agency from the little budgetary allocation of the agency recurrent expenditure to promote human capital development.
