Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia has donated six Sport Utility Vehicles (SUV) to the Benue State Judiciary for enhanced performance.

Governor Alia, who made the donation on Monday, said the vehicles were part of the resolve of his administration to ensure the welfare and effective service delivery of the Judiciary in the State.

A statement by the Principal Special Assistant to the Governor on Media, Publicity and Strategic Communications, Bridget Tyam revealed that Governor Alia at the occasion appreciated the Judiciary for their services and urged them to do more to ensure that law and order are strictly maintained in the state.

The Governor, who was represented the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice and Public Order, Barr. Fidelis Bemsen Mnyim, also appreciated the Governor for the gesture and requested the Judiciary to put the vehicles to good use for the benefit of the state.

He explained that 4 of the cars were for the Benue State High Court Judges, while 2 of the cars were for the Judges of the Customary Court of Appeal Benue State.

He also appreciated the Governor for promoting the rule of law particularly by granting autonomy to the judiciary in the state to perform optimally.

It could be recalled that during the just concluded National Judicial Review Summit which was put together by the Attorney General and Minister of Justice Prince Lateef Fagbemi SAN had commended the Benue State governor for granting autonomy to the Benue State judiciary, urging other state governors to emulate Governor Alia.

The Summit as recalled applauded Governor Alia to have complied with section 121 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) by the fifth alteration Act. The participants at the summit affirmed the governor’s integrity and concluded that he is ready to run a transparent Government.
