Gowon to host Banquet of Honour for Akume, North Central Governors, others March 2

Former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (rtd), will on March 2, 2024, host a grand occasion in honour of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume and seven state governors from the North.

The governors are: Caleb Muftwang (Plateau), Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia (Benue), Agbu Kefas (Taraba), Rt. Hon. Mohammed Umar Bago (Niger), Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri (Adamawa), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa) and Usman Ahmed Ododo (Kogi).

Others to be honoured include the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike.

Christened “Banquet of Honour,” the event, scheduled to hold at the International Conference Centre, Abuja, has  President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as Special Guest of Honour, while a former Minister of Defence, General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (rtd) will be the Guest of honour.

The Banquet of Honour, which was earlier scheduled for the last quarter of 2023, had to be shifted to March 2, 2024 for strategic reasons, according to a source close to the organisers.

The event, which is strictly on invitation, is slated for 6pm at the Congress Hall of the International Conference Centre in Area 10, Garki, Abuja.
