Group lauds FG over appointment of Acting CMD FUSHSTH

Benue South Coalitions for Good Governance and Accountability has lauded the Federal Government on the appointment of Prof Silas Ochejele as the pioneer acting Chief Medical Director of the Federal University of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital (FUSHSTH) Otukpo.

A statement in Makurdi by the leader of the group, Engr Ameh Johnson said the aggressive infrastructural development recorded within a short period speaks volume of the personality and integrity of Prof Ochejele’s commitment to write his name in gold.

The group insisted that going by what we saw in the area of infrastructural development around the Teaching Hospital and how people were no longer traveling to Makurdi, Jos or Enugu for medical reasons, they sincerely appreciated the Federal Government for appointing a committed leader as the pioneer Acting CMD”

According to the statement, the group said the Federal Government Teaching Hospital Otukpo, will seriously compliment the Federal University of Health Sciences Otukpo in the areas of practical training and research.

The group as the statement indicated equally expressed appreciation to the Benue State Government that against all odds peacefully handed over the former General Hospital, Otukpo for the take off of the Federal University Teaching Hospital, pointing out that such mutual working relationship between the two various tiers of government would brings rapid socio economic and political development in any community.

Engr Johnson listed some of the achievements by the pioneer CMD to include the construction and completion of a 5- suite standard Theatre awaiting commissioning, renovation and furnishing of Call Rooms for Doctors in Accident and Emergency, Doctors in Surgery and Gynaecology Department and Obstetrics and Gynaecology.

Also worthy of mention according to the group were purchase and digitalization of the Hospital X-ray, reconstruction and furnishing of female surgical wards, introduction of Electronic Medical Records, revitalization of the 100000 litres over head tank and 100000 litres surface water tank, repairs of 40KVA and 20 KVA generators and acquisition of certificate of occupancy (C of O) for the Federal Teaching Hospital Otukpo land among others.
