Jechira appreciates Akume for Alia Governorship, pledges support for SGF, Tinubu Administration

The Jechira Traditional Council in Vandeikya Local Government Area of Benue State, has congratulated Senator George Akume on his recent appointment as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), and pledged to lend its full support and cooperation to ensure the success of the objectives and policies of the Administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking during a “Thank You and Congratulatory Visit” to the SGF in Abuja over the weekend, the TOR Jechira, HRH Chief Clement Uganden, explained that besides coming to felicitate with Senator Akume, the group was also on the visit to formally appreciate him for facilitating the ceding of the Benue Governorship slot the Jechira people.

NATIONAL ACCORD reports that the emergence of Rev Father Hyacinth Alia (Mbadede Ward in Vandeikya LGA) from Jerchira as the Gubernatorial candidate of the All-Progressive Congress (APC) and his subsequent victory in the 2023 election, is widely believed to have been facilitated by the SFG.

Chief Ugandan, who led the delegation to the Abuja residence of Senator Akume, further extolled the SGF’s sterling qualities of humility, steadfastness and commitment to all of his causes.

He, on behalf of the entire people of Jechira, wished the former Benue state governor a very successful tenure in office as SGF.

Also speaking at the occasion, one of the Jechira elders, Senator Jack Tilley Gyado, commended the TOR Jechira for the initiative of the visit and thanked the SGF for receiving the team.

He joined Chief Ugandan in assuring the SGF of the full support and cooperation of the Jechira people to his leadership.

In his remarks, a former Military Administrator of Katsina State, Senator Joseph Akaagerger, urged the SGF to continue doing good to the Jechira people.

Responding, Senator Akume, thanked the delegation and promised to use his present position to support development.

On the delegation from the Jechira Traditional Council were the Ter Ikyor, HRH Chief Jam Gbinde; Ter Kunav HRH, Chief Nyiyongo Achiaku and the Mue Ters from Kyan,Tiev, Shangev Tiev and Gaav.

Others in attendance were Engr.  Edward Ujege, Esv Godwin Ityoachimin, Dr. Mathais Byuan, Hon. Terlumun Ikya, Hon. Paul uyeh, Arch Bernard Yisa Hon. Sesoo Ikpagher, Chief Atser Kyausu, Major-General India Garba rtd. Air commander Jack Gbamwuam rtd and, AIG Austine Iwar rtd.

They also included Dr Timothy Aikor; Engr. Selumun Ugye, Hon. Terver Aginde, Hon. Iordye Tyoasough, Engr. Emmanuel Baaki, Hon Terhemba Yaka, Simon Ityungu, Loverty Maikyur, TOR Jam, and Hembadoon Nomnor.
