UPDATE: Gunmen abduct 3 polytechnic students in Plateau

Gunmen on Wednesday night invaded the main campus of the the Plateau State Polytechnic, Barking Ladi and abducted three students, the state police command has confirmed.

The command’s spokesman, ASP Ubah Ogaba, confirmed the abduction in a statement issued to newsmen on Thursday in Jos.

Ogaba said the students were kidnapped on Wednesday night at Ban, a community behind the main Campus of the institution at Heipang, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the state.

“The Police command is aware of the kidnap incident in Ban Village behind Plateau State Polytechnic main campus, Heipang, where three persons were abducted.

The police spokesman noted that immediately the report of the kidnapping was received, a team of armed policemen and troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), moved to the scene and arrested one suspect.

He however said efforts are ongoing to rescue the kidnapped victims and arrest other members of the gang.
