Man docked for alleged illegal possession of police equipment, toy guns

The Police on Friday arraigned one Olayiwola Aliu at an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for allegedly being in possession of police uniforms and toy guns.

The 30-year old, whose residential address was not provided, has been charged with illegal possession of police uniforms and toy guns.

The Prosecutor, Mr Philip Amusan, told the court that Aliu allegedly committed the offence on Dec. 23 at Gbaremu area of Ibadan.

Amusan said Aliu possessed two sets of police uniforms, two walkie-talkie devices, both being police accoutrements, and which he could not give satisfactory account of how he came about them.

He alleged that the defendant was also unlawfully in possession of two toy guns, with the intent to use same to commit felony at the aforementioned area.

The Prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 427(D) and 417(D) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The Magistrate, Mr Olaolu Olanipekun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.

He thereafter adjourned the case till Feb. 27 for hearing.(NAN)
