Nasarawa Assembly confirms Chairman, members, Disability Rights Commission

Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has screened and confirmed Sale Barde Keana as Executive Chairman and 4 others as members of Nasarawa State Disability Rights Commission as submitted to the House by Gov. Abdullahi Sule.

The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, announced their confirmation shortly after they appeared for screening during the House proceedings today in Lafia.

The Speaker, while congratulating them on their well deserved appointments, urged them not to fail when discharging their duties after being finally sworn in by the Governor .

” The House hereby confirmed Sale Barde Keana as Executive Chairman while Tafida Adamu Jibrin, Ishaku H Manji, Mohammed G Mohammed and Bridget A.Christopher as members of the commission”

The Speaker directed the Clerk of the House to communicate the House resolution to Gov Abdullahi Sule, for his necessary action.

Earlier, Hon Suleiman Yakubu Azara, the Majority Leader of the House moved a motion for the confirmation of the nominees, seconded by Hon Luka Iliya Zhekaba, the Minority Leader of the House.

The House unanimously confirmed the Executive Chairman and other members of the commission.

Speaking with newsmen, Sale Barde Keana, the Executive Chairman of the commission expressed their appreciation to Gov. Abdullahi Sule and the House for the confidence reposed in them.

He said that Gov. Sule believe that there is ability in disability, hence the need of their appointments.

” I will do everything humanly possible to bring good policies and programmes that would improve on our lives and bring speedy development to the state,” he said

The Executive Chairman assured of his readiness to conduct head count of the people living with disability, if finally sworn in by the Governor.

” We will conduct headcount of people living with disability in the state in order to impact positively on our lives.

” We are not going to fail Gov. Sule, the House, the people of Nasarawa State and our people,” he said.

Asaba Averson, one of the disabled persons also appreciated Gov. Sule for setting up the commission toward improving on their standard of living.

In the meantime, the House has received the nomination of Abdullahi Bala as General Manager, Nasarawa State Youth Empowerment Agency from Gov. Abdullahi Sule for consideration and confirmation.

The Speaker of the House, Rt.Hon Danladi Jatau announced this during the House proceedings today in Lafia.

The Speaker urged the appointee to submit 30 copies of his Curriculum Vitae (CV) and to appear for screening and possible confirmation this week Wednesday.

Abdullahi Bala is expected to take over from Abdullahi Labaran Maina.
