Nasarawa Assembly set to pass revenue harmonization bill

Nasarawa State House of Assembly, says it would pass into law A Bill for a Law to Amend, Repeal and Re-Enact the Nasarawa State Harmonization and Administration of Revenue Law and For Purposes Connected Therewith tomorrow March 6th, 2024.

The law if passed, will addressed illegal taxation and harmonized tax administration in the state.

The development followed deliberation on the report of the House Standing Committee on Finance and Appropriation on a ‘Bill to Amend and Repeal Nasarawa State Harmonization and Administration of Revenue Law’

Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, the Speaker of the House announced this after the House deliberated on the committee report during the House proceedings today in Lafia.

The Speaker said that the bill, when passed and assented to by the State Governor, it will checkmate irregularities or problems associated with revenue collection in the State.

He also said that the bill when passed would curtail multiple tax collections and boost the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the State.

Jatau also commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule, for initiating the bill and members for their positive contributions on the bill.

Earlier, Hon Suleiman Yakubu Azara, the Majority Leader of the House moved a motion for the adoption of the committee report which was seconded by Hon Luka Iliya Zhekaba, the Minority Leader of the House.nasarawanasnas
