Nasarawa CP urges parents to help in fighting crimes

The Commissioner of Police, Nasarawa State Command, CP Umar Shehu Nadada, has called on parents in the state to help security in the fight against cyber crime, cultism and other social vices.

CP Nadada, made the call on Tuesday, while on a familiarization tour of Akwanga Area command consisting of Akwanga, Nasarawa Eggon, Wamba, Mada Station and Gudi divisions.

The CP, disclosed that the Command, recently arrested some individuals for cyber crimes, known as “double your money syndicate”, as he advised parents and the public to be on alert and help the Police to fight these menace.

“Recently we arrested and paraded some suspects who specialised in cyber crime, they opened offices in Akwanga here and other places, defrauding unsuspected members of the public, collecting money from them, as much as 1 million naira, while they tell their victims that they will pay them N140,000 monthly, how possible is that?”

“We also have the issue of cultist who are not only found in universities, or, Secondary schools, it has trickled down to primary schools, in this case I call on parents to put eagle eyes on their children to know the kind of friends they keep, so that these vices will be nipped from our houses”

“Police and other security agencies cannot do it alone, we need your support and cooperations at all times so that the state will be adequately secured” Nadada said.

The CP further called on individuals to support the Command with mobility, also adding that a letter had been written to the IGP to construct a new Area office around Keffi bye pass in Akwanga, to also tackle the issue of land grabbing.

Earlier in a welcome address, ACP Rasheed Ali, Akwanga Area Commander, said due to crises in some parts of Plateau and Kaduna which shares boundaries with Akwanga, Wamba and Gudi Divisions, criminals now see Akwanga as a safe heaven, but he said his men have been able to tackle them.

Some of the stakeholders who graced the familiarization visit, includes Safiyanu Issa Andaha, Executive Chairman Akwanga LGC, Dr Kwanta Yakubu, Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources and GM Option Radio Akwanga, Mr Boniface Abraham, among others, who all appreciated the efforts of the Police, as they solicited for more vehicles and security votes for their smooth operations.
