NEDC presents certificates, letters of appointment to 60 sponsored electrical linesmen

No fewer than 60 beneficiaries from six states of the north east, namely, Adamawa, Borno, Bauchi, Yobe, Taraba, and Gombe, who were sponsored by the North East Development Commission (NEDC) for a 6-month training program with the Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited at the Mainstream Energy Academy, have been presented with their graduation certificates and automatic employment by Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) in partnership with NEDC

The Commission also donated new brand 18-seater Toyota Bus to Nigeria Arabic Language Ngala (NALN) and a new brand Toyota Hilux jeep to the North East Governors Forum (NEGF) Secretariat as part of the commission’s mandate and corporate -community relations and support

Presenting the keys to the beneficiaries at the Commission’s head office in Maiduguri, the Managing Director/CEO of NEDC, Ambassador Goni Mohammed Alkali also announced a donation of N2.5 million to each of the beneficiaries of NALN and NEGF for fuelling of the vehicles.

Alkali added that empowerment of the large unemployed youths in the region is one of the greatest challenges of the commission since i’s inception to date which informed the sponsorship of the graduands, who were engaged in training partnership with the Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited and YEDC to create and provide employment opportunities to the youths.

He further announced a cash donation of N250,000 to each of the 60 graduands totalling N 15 million to be disbursed to them in two instalments of N150,000 and N100, 000 within a period of one month to enable the graduands settle down and commence work immediately in earnest

He also assured continuous collaboration and partnership with both the Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited and Yola Electricity distribution company to provide constant and steady electricity supply in the north east region

The Executive Director Operations, MESL, Usman Mohammed Umar in his remark said ,” I will like extend our sincere gratitude to the Northeast Development Commission for their unwavering support in sponsoring our participation in the skills acquisition training at Mainstream Academy. ”

“Their commitment to empowering individuals and fostering regional development is truly commendable. This sponsorship not only enhances our skill set but also contributes significantly to the socio-economic progress of our community.

“We deeply appreciate the Commission’s dedication to uplifting and transforming lives through education and training initiatives,” Usman said

Usman Umar who is also the Managing Director/CEO of the Mainstream Energy Academy as an institute of Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited appreciated the NEDC and trainees sponsored by the NEDC for the training,saying,” MESL is one of the largest and strongest energy company in African with operational capacity and also partners YEDC, Yola Electricity Distribution Company.”

” We currently working on taking over the electricity construction , installation and distribution in the north east in partnership on Mambila Hydropower Electricity Project . Mainstream Energy Solutions Limited is the operator of Jaba and currently hydropower plants we are also about to start cashing in this company is the largest generation company what is instructive is that we are linked with the global climate change.

“As we progress, we want to continue to build expertise in this area. It is a great pleasure to celebrate this remarkable milestone the progress deputation residents who have successfully completed in collaboration,” Usman said.

The Managing Director of Yola Electricity Distribution Company YEDC, Engr. Abdulrahman Isa congratulated graduands and NEDC for such remarkable achievements while advising the graduands to be disciplined, committed and hardworking in the discharge of their duties .

He stressed that professionalism, integrity, collaborations, relationship, maintenance of high standard of transparency and accountability among others are key criteria for effective service delivery by staff of the YEDC.

Some of the graduands appreciated the trainer, Mainstream Energy Academy, the MESL and NEDC for giving them the opportunities and privileges to acquire knowledge and skills that are useful in their lifetime.

They assured of their readiness to put into proper use the training and skills from the empowerment programme of the NEDC by being dedicated and committed in their work

Highlights of the occasion include presentation of certificates of graduation, automatic appointment letters, vehicles, group photographs, among others.
