The Nigerian League of Professional (NLP) has congratulated Mr. Anamekwe Chukwunyere Nwabuoku on his recent emergence as the new Acting Accountant General of The Federation.
in a letter dated May 20th, 2022 and signed by Aliyu Ahmed, the Permanent Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning, said Mr Nwabuoku waa appointed to oversee the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, pending the outcome of the EFCC investigation of the suspended AGF, Ahmad Idris over N80bn alleged fraud.
Responding to the appointment through a statement jointly signed by the Chairman and Secretary of NLP, Engr. Toyin Okuku and Dr Hadija Mohammed, they described the choice of Nwabuoku as the best thing to have happened at the leadership level of the AGF.
Engr Toyin Okuku described Mr Nwabuoku as a core professional, who understands his duty and will be able to diligently carry out his duties and apply his years’ of experiences into his new position as the acting Accountant General of Nigeria.
“For us in the Nigerian League of Professionals, we are happy that President Muhammadu Buhari has considered a core Professional like Anamekwe Nwabuoku fit to head the Office of AGF considering his weath of experiences”.
“Nwabuoku holds a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting from the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) in Enugu, as well as a Master of Science (M.Sc) in Financial Management from Commonwealth University in Belize. Between 1992 and 1995, he worked for the Centre for Democratic Studies (CDS), where he advanced to the post of Principal Accountant”.
“From 1996 until 2001, he worked as an Assistant Chief Accountant at the Office of the AGF in Abuja. From 2001 to 2003, he worked as a Special Assistant to the Senate President on Public Affairs at the National Assembly’s Office of the Senate President, where he provided Advisory Services to the Senate President on Media and other topics”.
“From 2009 until 2012, he was in charge of Funds at the Ministry after being promoted to Assistant Director, Accounts”.
“In 2012, Anamekwe Nwabuoku was promoted to Deputy Director (Accounts) and assigned as Supervisory Officer of Ecological Funds Accounts and other relevant topics to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF)”.
“In 2017, he was promoted to Director (Accounts) and assigned to the Federation’s Office of the Head of the Civil Service. From May 2019 to March 2021, he served as Director (Finance and Accounts) at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters in Abuja.”
From his wealth of experiences, The Nigeria League of Professionals believe that Mr. Nwabuoku has the capacity to introduce strategies that will help stamp out corruption and other fraudulent acts from the system.
NLP, however, admonished The new AGF to be wary of the banana peels and remain focused in the discharge of his duties.
“We also appeal to the Nigerians, MDAs, CSOs, and other stakeholders to cooperate and work with the new AGF”.
“We also urged the media to be professional and ethical in their reportage about the new AGF. We hereby solicit that all forms of flimsy reports from faceless media organizations geared toward maligning the good reputation and proven track records of Mr. Nwabuoku should cease henceforth”.
