Senator Bassey Otu of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has been declared the winner of last Saturday governorship elections in Cross River State
Declaring the result, the state collation officer and Vice chancellor of Federal University of Otueke Bayelsa Teedy Charles, said Senator Bassey Otu of the APC having scored the highest number of votes in the 18 Local Government Areas is declared elected
He defeated his rival Senator Sandy Onor of the PDP with 258,619 while his closet rival Senator Sandy Onor got 179, 636 votes.
Total number of registered voters in the state was 1,76646, valid votes 451,937, rejected votes 8923,total vote cast 460856.
Senator Bassey Otu won in 15 Local Government Areas of the state while Senator Sandy Onor of the PDP won in 3 local government areas.
The local government areas won by Senator Bassey Otu included – Yakurr 17,684 while the PDP candidate polled 9,208.
In Obubura Local Government Area, Senator Bassey Otu defeated the PDP candidate with 18,371 to 10,945 votes.
He also defeated his rival with 20,320 votes in Calabar Municipal Council while the PDP candidate polled 15,882 votes to come second
The APC candidate also won in Akpabuyo local government Area with 10,410 while the PDP candidate polled only 5,938 votes
In Calabar South, Senator Bassey Otu won with 28,340 while Senator Sandy Onor got 7980 votes
In Odukpani local Government Area, Senator Bassey Otu won with 14,622 while the PDP candidate polled only 3,971 votes
In Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State was won with 24,793 while the PDP had 15,733 votes
In Akpabuyo local government Area Senator Bassey Otu won with 10,410 while the PDP got 5,938
In Akamkpa local government Area the APC candidate polled 10,529 while the PDP candidate polled 6935 votes
Senator Bassey Otu won Boki Local Government Area with 17,355 votes while the PDP candidate polled 15,0303 votes respectively.
Obanliku local government Area was also won by the APC with 10386
While the PDP candidate won with 10,100 votes. The PDP candidate won in Ikom local government Area, Ogoja and Bekwara local government Area.
In Ikom, the PDP candidate won with 14,158 while Senator Bassey Otu got 12,883 votes.
The PDP candidate polled 17,483 in Ogoja Local Government Area to defeat Senator Bassey Otu with 16,162.
Senator Sandy Onor also won Bekwara local government Area with a slim margin of 12,129 while Senator Bassey Otu of APC got 11,839
