Imo State Governor and Chairman of the All Progressive Governor’s Forum in Nigeria, Hope Uzodinma has described his Sokoto counterpart, Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto as one young politician that Nigerians should watch out for.

Uzodinma, who spoke in Sokoto before commissioning two of the many road projects executed by Governor Ahmed Aliyu within his first 100 days in office, added that, the governor’s commitment to national unity is highly commendable.

The Imo Governor expressed satisfaction on the number of non indigenes especially those of the Igbo extraction he has seen happily doing their businesses in the state.

He added that it is a testament to the fact that the Sokoto’s governor is a true pan Nigerian who believes in national cohesion.

“Judging by what I have heard before coming to Sokoto and what my people have told me while in Sokoto and with what I am seeing for myself today at this road commissioning venue, I can say with all sense of modesty that my counterpart, Sokoto State governor, Ahmed Aliyu is a true Pan-Nigerian.

“He truly believes in inclusivity, national integration and high display of integrity for keeping to his campaign promises. This is more so that, my Igbo brothers doing their businesses here confirmed to me that you promised to deliver this road project if voted into power within 100 days in office despite the area is predominantly dominated by my people from the South East.

“Therefore, when I was  invited to come and commission road project in Sokoto,  I feel I was not only coming to identify with our progressive counterpart, but also my brothers, the non indigenes, especially, those of the Igbo extractions.

“And truly, on reaching the State, I was amazed by the number of Igbos that came to receive me right from the airport till this particular place of the road commissioning, which I have seen to be dominated by my people doing all manner of businesses here.

“I was also told that water has now been restored and solar street lights installed in this Sahara and Diplomat areas where my people are more doing thier businesses. I therefore want to congratulate the people of Sokoto for voting such a good leader, in the person of Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto as their governor”.

Expressing their gratitude, Association of Igbo traders in Sokoto presented a gift of well crafted portrait to the State governor in addition to a very healthy bull.

Earlier in his remarks, Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu said roads in the area which is largely dominated by non-indigenes have continued to suffer neglect over time.

“This area is dominated by mostly Igbos who are vehicle spare parts dealers. But I told them during my campaigns that should they vote for me, I will construct this road within my first 100 days in office.

“”And thank God, here we are today to commission the road as one of the numerous projects kind up for my 100 days in office celebration”.

He admonished them to maintain the road as their personal property.
