Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum on Monday flagged off the distribution of food palliatives residents of Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC) and Jere Local Government Council with a view to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal by the federal government.
The Governor while addressing the people before launching the distribution of the food palliatives, acknowledged that the state government received 5 trucks of bags of 50 kg rice from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for onward distribution to the people of Borno.
Zulum added that the palliative is a collaborative effort of the Federal Government and the Borno State Government where each ward of the 27 LGAs of the state will receive a total of 2000 bags of 50 kg rice , 2000 bags of 10 kg rice and 2000 bags of 10 kg bags of beans to be shared among the vulnerable households.
He appreciated President Tinubu and the Vice President Kashim Shettima for the gesture and pledged to ensure judicious distribution to the rightful households who are the targeted beneficiaries of the scheme.
The governor further called on the people of the state to stay calm and exercise some restrain as the state government is working assiduously to alleviate the sufferings and hardships of its citizens because of the economic crunch.
