Super Eagles must improve to win matches ahead – SWAN

The Zamfara Chapter of the Sport Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), says the Super Eagles must improve their striking ability in order to win the remaining matches at the African Nations Cup (AFCON) tournament in Cameroon.

The Chairman of the Association, Murtala Dabbakal, made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Thursday in Gusau.

Dabbakal said although the team had won the match against Guinean Bissau, but the performance of the players in the first half was not encouraging.

Dabbakal said most of the fans were worried during the first half, as players of Guinea Bissau played with a sense of seriousness.

He observed that the Super Eagles underrated their opponents, believing that they had already qualified for the next round with or with out winning.

He urged the players to face the remaining matches with determination, irrespective of the country or team involved.

He also commended the coach for substituting the scorer immediately after scoring the first goal to boost the morale of other players.

Other Fans expressed joy and commended the steady performance of the players in the tournament so far, which enabled the team to to top Group D with maximum nine points.

NAN reports that the Super Eagles had earlier defeated Egypt by one goal, Sudan by three goals to one and Guinea Bissau by two goals. (NAN)
