Tears as Cross River SWAN Chairman is laid to rest

The remains of the late Cross River State Chairman of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Comrade Albert Archibong Andinam (JP) has been laid to rest in Calabar, the state capital.

The late sport enthusiast suffered from an ailment while receiving treatment at the Navy Hospital, Calabar and later University of Calabar Teaching Hospital where he succumbed to the cold hands of death on May 8th 2022.

His body on Friday laid in state at the Ernest Etim Bassey Press Centre where journalists paid their last respects for their professional colleague.

Speaking at a funeral service in his honour, the Associate Minister in charge of the Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, Hope Waddell Parish, Calabar Very Rev John Abah Vincent, described death as a necessary end that will come to any man.

According to the clergyman, “This is the reality of life. Life is a journey, we are all pilgrims and tenants in this world.”

He advised those living to go closer to their creator as no one knows when death will come knocking.

Until his death, Albert Archibong Andinam was the State Chairman of SWAN, former Secretary of the Nigerian Union of Journalists Cross River State Council, Deputy Sports Editor of the Nigerian Chronicle.
