A Member of the then Tinubu Independent Campaign Council, Godfrey Manasseh, has said that the President has forgiven former Speaker Yakubu Dogara despite refusing to support him during the election.

He said that despite Dogara’s alignment with some Christian groups from the north and across the country to work against Tinubu becoming President in 2023 because of the Muslim-Muslim ticket of the APC, he had been forgiven.

“Everyone knows who Mr President is. President Ahmed Bola Tinubu forgives you before you offend him,” he said.

Referencing the story of the Prodigal Son and his father, Manasseh, while interacting with journalists in Bauchi late Monday evening, said that Tinubu was waiting for Dogara to return and he would be accepted back.

He said: “Dogara and company who fought vehemently against the Muslim-Muslim ticket are forgiven by Mr President. When you forgive a child, he has to find his way back to his father.

“I am a Christian and I know the story of the prodigal son. When the prodigal son was forgiven, he ran back to his father.

“President Tinubu has forgiven Dogara. It is now left for Dogara and his likes to run back to Mr President so that Mr President will take them back.”

The All Progressives Congress Chieftain in Bauchi State who was also the Chairman of ‘Christian Coalition’ said that Christians are becoming quite aware now that the Muslim-Muslim ticket was not meant for religion.

“The Muslim-Muslim ticket has fared quite well and in 2027 Christians are voting Tinubu back. We will beg some of them to vote because there will be many Christians that will vote Tinubu again,” he said.

He described the president as a great leader who was working tirelessly to reposition Nigeria towards greatness pointing out that: “We said it during the campaign that Tinubu is reliable, he is committed, dedicated and can be trusted, so far Nigerians are testifying to that.”

Recall that Dogara, a Chieftain of the APC and a close ally of Tinubu, vehemently resisted his party’s muslim-muslim ticket.

But when the party went on with its decision, Dogara, who represented Bogoro/Dass/Tafawa Balewa Federal Constituency for four terms, though still in the APC, openly supported former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party for President.
