The All Progressives Congress (APC), Benue State Chapter has described the faction of the party in the state led by Benjamin Omakolo as Chairman of a Non Governmental Organization, NGO and not an APC faction.

In an exclusive chat with NATIONAL ACCORD, the State Publicity Secretary of the party Mr. Daniel Morgan Ihomon, informed that APC has remained one indivisible party which has Austine Agada as its Chairman, who has recognition all over the country.

Mr. Ihomon, who insisted that Benjamin Omakolo was merely an NGO Chairman who has nothing to do with APC as a political party in Benue State was not qualified to parade himself anywhere as the party chairman.

He explained that Governor Hyacinth Alia lacked power to appoint people into the positions of the party, stressing that what they only succeeded in doing was mere formation of an NGO which according to him, no one has the right to stop anyone from forming an NGO.

Speaking further, Ihomon revealed that the constitution of the party was explicit on constitution of its leadership and by the provision of the constitution, Agada is the Chairman of the party in the state.

On the planned creation of council wards by the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission, (BSIEC), the spokesman of the party noted that it was purely a constitutional matter, adding that Commission was a creation of the constitution even as its conduct is also guided by the constitution.

He opined that the legality or otherwise of the exercise should be looked into by the state electoral umpire.

Mr. Ihomon also expressed worry over the comments of the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Paul Biam on the peace meeting initiated by His Royal Majesty, HRM, Professor James Iorzua Ortese Ayatse, which clearly indicated that process was not in sight.

He expressed confidence that APC would win the forthcoming local government elections in the state, adding that the party has remained popular in the state and the opposition parties would not make any appreciable impact at the local government polls.

As to the performance of the APC led government of the state, Ihomon noted that as an insider and member of the party. the Benue people would have better assessment of the performance of the APC led government of the state as according to him, assessing the APC government would have some elements of bias.
