Professor Eyo Etim Nyong, a governorship aspirant of the APC in Cross River State has revealed why he wants to become Governor Ben Ayade’s successor come 2023.
Speaking while paying homage to the state executive in Calabar, Prof. Nyong noted that his vision and programmes for the state has been comprehensively captured in a booklet which he has made available to the state chairman of the party but would summarize to others.
Professor Nyong, a who is a certified High Chief in the Palace of the Obong of Calabar, noted that a good intentions in government is the hallmarks of good governance which his administration will adopt.
According to him, “Cross River State is richly endowed with agriculture and solid mineral resources as well as rich maritime, resources , ecosystems and biodiversity endowments”
.
He identified the current efforts of the incumbent governor towards leveraging the state’s rich endowments through creating allied industries and initiatives for both the deep seaport and the superhighway.
“The deep seaport and the superhighway hold a lot of economic value that can be unlocked, when brought to fruition”, he said..
He maintained that he has the right connections that can attract the right partners and investment to see through the initiatives.
He listed all the industrial initiatives of Governor Ayade and said if given the mandate, his administration will adopt a different workable model and frameworks in the operations of these industries and mega projects to ensure their sustainability.
“We will “corporatized the industries and by the corporatization policy, ownership will be separated from management to allow them run on commercial bases”.
Responding, the Cross River State Chairman of the APC, Alphonsus Eba Esq. said Prof. Eyo Etim Nyong is not only an erudite professor but distinguished man who deserves the opportunity to lead the state and sustain all the programs and initiatives of government for the benefits of the people.
He noted that since 1999 under the legacy of The All Progressive Party (APP), Prof. Nyong had been a household name and an aspirant who was robbed of victory in the governorship race but he has remain committed to public service and the aspiration for a better Cross River State.
He advised that delegates of the APC for the forthcoming primaries of the party are at liberty to make the choice of the party flag bearer, hence, aspirants should convince them to vote rightly and wisely.
