Zulum commissions Model School donated by NNPC, Total Energy in Magumeri LGA

Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum has commissioned a new Model Secondary School in Gajiganna, Magumeri LGA, which was built and donated by The Nigerian National Petroleum Cooperation (NNPC) and Total Energies Infrastructures Project as part of their Cooperate Social Responsibility.

The Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Hon. Usman Kadufur, said the Intervention is timely and quite appropriate as it would supplement the efforts of the state government in improving the quality and standard in the educational sector, which has been worst hit by the lingering security challenges that has been bedeviling the state for over 12 years.

According to him, the state government has been working assiduously to change the narrative in the education sector by allocating the highest budgetary allocation to the sector for total rejuvenation of all educational Infrastructures spread across the state.

“In this regard substantial progress has been achieved, many schools were constructed and rehabilitated. Subsequently, qualified teachers were employed with emphasis on science based courses to boost the sector for optimal performance, ” the governor said.

He also appreciated the tireless efforts of the NNPC and its partners for their special intervention in the state, which has complemented the efforts of Borno State Government in all the critical sectors of the state.

Governor Zulum, further, noted that the state government alone cannot provide free Education to all and sundry, saying,” Therefore, there is need for the private sectors to partner with the state Government to provide affordable and accessible education to all schools age children in the state”.

Professor Zulum, however, appealed to other NGOs and iINGOs to emulate NNPC and its partners while urging all relevant ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) as well as the local government councilor to ensure proper utilization of the edifice for the betterment of education in the state.

The Deputy Governor was accompanied at the occasion by Chief of Staff to Governor Prof. Isa Marte Hussaini, some members of Borno State Executive Council, Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants among others.
