In a unified push for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, the Ondo State All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders Movement has vowed to secure over 1.5 million votes, leveraging the state’s 1.9 million registered voters.
The group, a coalition of seasoned party leaders, emphasized unity and strategic mobilization to achieve this ambitious target.
At a recent gathering in Akure, the Movement’s Chairman, Sen. Nimbe Farunkanmi, declared, “We are committed to ensuring 90 percent of votes in Ondo State go to President Tinubu.”
He outlined plans for grassroots engagement, stating, “This movement will hold meetings at local government, ward, and unit levels to ensure Tinubu’s continuity.”
Party leader Mr. Jamiu Ekungba highlighted the group’s mobilization efforts, noting, “We are encouraging mass participation in the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration by INEC to meet our goal.” Reflecting on past successes, he added, “In the last election, we secured 366,000 votes for the governor, an unprecedented achievement. With 1.9 million registered voters, 1.5 million for Tinubu is achievable if we persuade people to vote.”
A federal commissioner and widow of Ondo’s late deputy governor, Mrs. Olukemi Iyantan, emphasized the group’s focus on unity and strategic planning post the November 16 governorship election.
“Our elders provide wisdom and direction, ensuring the party is no longer in disarray,” she said. “With their guidance, we are confident in achieving victory for Tinubu in 2027.”
Another key figure, Mr. Olumuyiwa Ogunleye, stressed the importance of consolidating support under a single banner, ‘Ondo State for Tinubu 2027.’
He explained, “The elders are intervening to unify all support groups to maximize votes for Tinubu, ensuring no division in our efforts.”
