As political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections begin to gather momentum, the Sokoto State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has effectively endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Aliyu for a second term in office.
The endorsement came on Tuesday during the inauguration of members of the party’s e-registration committees at the APC state secretariat in Sokoto.
Addressing party members before the inauguration, the State APC Chairman, Isa Sadiq Achida, explained that the e-registration exercise goes beyond confirming membership, noting that it also confers the legal right on members to seek elective positions within the party.
Achida urged committee members to prioritise sensitisation and mobilisation to ensure the success of the exercise, stressing that the party aims to rank Sokoto among states with the highest number of registered APC members nationwide.
According to him, recent political developments in the state indicate a clear shift towards a one-party dominance.
He declared emphatically that “any other opposition party is just a ghost that does not exist in Sokoto now.”
Explaining why President Tinubu and Governor Aliyu deserve another term, the state party chairman said the scale of development witnessed both at the federal and state levels speaks for itself.
He described ongoing projects and governance outcomes as sufficient justification for voters to renew the mandates of President Tinubu and Governor Aliyu in 2027.
Achida further assured party members that those selected to serve on the e-registration committees were individuals of proven integrity, honesty, dedication and strong records of service delivery.
The inaugurated bodies include the State Main Committee, Senatorial Monitoring Committees, and the Publicity and Mobilisation Committee.
The State Monitoring Committee is to be chaired by the State APC Chairman, Sadiq Isa Achida, with Dr. Yakubu Maccido serving as secretary.
Alhaji Yahaya Buhari was named Chairman of the Sokoto North Senatorial District, with Barrister Bashir Jodi as secretary.
For Sokoto East Senatorial District, Yusuf Maccido will serve as chairman, while Barrister Bashir Gobir will act as secretary.
In Sokoto South Senatorial District, Haruna Abbas was appointed chairman, with Ibrahim Suleiman as secretary.
Other members include Sambo Bello Danchadi as Chairman of the Publicity and Mobilisation Committee, with Bashar Abubakar serving as secretary.
Committee Pledges Commitment
Speaking on behalf of the committee members, Alhaji Yahaya Buhari Siriddawa expressed gratitude to the party leadership for the confidence reposed in them, assuring that the committees would discharge their responsibilities diligently and deliver results as expected.
