
The management of Allamin Foundation led by the Executive Director, Hajiya Hamsatu Allamin, paid a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Bama Local Government Council, Hon. Modu Ali Gujja, at the Council Secretariat in Bama
Allamin Foundation for Peace and Development has unveiled a livelihoods support intervention programme targeted at strengthening peace, social cohesion and economic recovery in Bama Local Government Area of Borno State.
The initiative was disclosed by the Executive Director of the Foundation, Hajiya Hamsatu Allamin, during a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Bama Local Government Council, Hon. Modu Ali Gujja, at the Council Secretariat in Bama on Tuesday.
According to her, the programme is funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in collaboration with the Borno State Government (BOSG) and is designed as an intervention targeting 220 beneficiaries, comprising 40 repentant insurgents and 180 members of the Bama host community.
She explained that the intervention seeks to support reintegration, reduce vulnerability and promote peaceful coexistence through sustainable livelihood opportunities, adding that the project will run for six months, with a strong focus on skills acquisition and economic empowerment as tools for post-conflict recovery.

Hajiya Allamin, further, revealed that three staff members drawn from host communities have been recruited to work closely with the Bama Local Government Council and the Bama Emirate Council to ensure effective implementation and community ownership of the programme.
She added that 240 beneficiaries, including repentant insurgents, host community members, destitute persons and minority groups, will receive vocational training in various crafts of their choice to enable them to become self-reliant.
The Executive Director also disclosed plans to convene a stakeholders’ engagement session involving repentant insurgents, community members, security agencies and traditional rulers at the Local Government Council premises to sensitize participants on the objectives and importance of the programme and strengthen collaboration.
She expressed appreciation to the Bama Local Government Council for its continued support and formally requested the allocation of office space to ensure smooth implementation of the Foundation’s activities in the area.

Responding, Hon. Modu Ali Gujja commended the Allamin Foundation for the initiative and reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to supporting programmes that promote peace, stability and the resettlement of displaced communities in Bama.
He assured the Foundation of the Council’s full cooperation towards the success of the project.

In a related development, the Allamin Foundation for Peace and Development has organised an advocacy training workshop and town hall engagement for community stakeholders in Bama, drawing participants from security agencies, religious groups, youth and women organisations, persons living with disabilities, vulnerable groups, minors and persons formerly associated with non-state armed groups in the North-East.
The training was held on Wednesday at the Bama Local Government Secretariat Conference Hall.

In her welcome address, the Executive Director, Hajiya Hamsatu Allamin, said the training targets 80 repentant insurgents and 140 vulnerable community members, including persons living with disabilities and minors.
She also noted that three field officers have been deployed as desk officers to coordinate project research, engagements and implementation.
According to her, the Foundation is implementing the training and related activities in collaboration with the Borno State Government, with representatives from the Ministry of Information and Internal Security, Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, and the Ministry of Justice actively involved to ensure effective delivery.
She further disclosed that the Shehu of Bama, HRH Umar Ibn Kyari Umar, has commended the initiative and pledged the support of the Bama Emirate Council for all activities under the project, while the Bama Local Government Chairman has assigned desk officers and officials to facilitate implementation.
Hajiya Allamin revealed that the programme is a European Union (EU)-funded six-month project focused on supporting the disengagement, rehabilitation, reintegration and reconciliation of persons formerly associated with non-state armed groups in the North-East.

She called for cooperation, understanding and active contributions from all stakeholders and partners to ensure sustained progress and measurable impact.
Also speaking, the Programme Manager and facilitator, Malam Hamza Dadum Maigari, provided detailed insights into the project’s aims, objectives, timelines, engagement criteria and expected outcomes.
He explained that baseline assessments, surveys, interviews and feedback mechanisms will be deployed to identify challenges, risks and gaps.
He added that specific tools will be used to assess issues relating to security, empowerment, dialogue, livelihoods and sustainability, including community structures and processes on women and transitional justice.
According to him, the overall goal is to strengthen peacebuilding, reconciliation, reintegration of returnee IDPs and repentant insurgents, promote peaceful coexistence and accelerate development in Bama Local Government Area.
