Minister of State for Regional Development, Barrister Uba Maigari, has expressed confidence that Governor Agbu Kefas’ performance, particularly in tackling insecurity, will earn him a decisive victory if he seeks re-election in the 2027 governorship election in Taraba State.
Maigari made the remarks while speaking with journalists at his residence in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, on Wednesday, shortly after participating in a high-level stakeholders’ meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) convened by the governor.
The meeting was the first major gathering of APC stakeholders following the party’s congresses and primary elections, which produced candidates for various elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the minister, Governor Kefas has made significant progress in key sectors, including infrastructure development, agriculture, youth and women empowerment, as well as security.
Speaking on the security situation in the state, Maigari said the governor had succeeded in restoring confidence among residents by reducing criminal activities that once threatened lives and livelihoods.
“Before now, people hardly go to their farms, people in the state were been kidnapped at all points, even here in Jalingo Taraba state capital, people were been kidnapped at gun point and killed on several occasions, farmers were denied access to their farms and everyone knows our state is an agricultural state.
“Apart from kidnapping, other forms of insecurity such as robbery, communal clashes and herders farmers attacks were on a high level, since assumption of office by Governor Kefas, these attacks have been reduced to the bearest minimum.
“Security is most paramount thing in all efforts of lives, without security, nobody including the government can not undertake any development, people can not be at their best, with his achievements in security and other sectors in the state, his re-election come 2027 governorship election will be a land slid victory.”
Maigari maintained that the governor’s achievements across critical sectors have laid a solid foundation for continued development, insisting that the improved security situation has enabled farmers to return to their fields and created a more conducive environment for economic activities across the state.
He added that the administration’s performance has positioned Governor Kefas strongly ahead of the 2027 governorship election, expressing optimism that the people of Taraba would reward his efforts with overwhelming support at the polls.
